After a successful third year, the Poreč Open Air Festival returns to the streets and squares of the old historic centre of Poreč and Sveti Nikola island for the fourth time from 1 July to 14 September. This year Poreč will once again become a huge open-air stage with daily programs full of events, with the organisers raising the bar higher each year.
Leading tourism company Valamar Riviera, in cooperation with the Town of Poreč and the Poreč Tourist Board will act as host sponsors and the company MPG as the event organiser along with many other sponsors and partners to provide an exciting programme of entertaining events that will further enrich holidays at the destination for all visitors and provide additional entertainment to the locals during the summer months.
The festival comprises four categories: Street Performance, Music Nights, Cinema and Theatre and Special Events. This year special attention will once again be given to the musical portion of the program and while the rest of the line-up still remains a surprise, the organisers have revealed this year’s first artist: Bajaga & Instruktori, who will cap off a summer of top-notch musical performances in Poreč on 14 September at the Riva.
The Poreč Open Air Festival is also being backed by the Town of Poreč and the Poreč Tourist Board, whose common goal is to constantly improve the town’s reputation as the leading Croatian tourist destination.
New locations, event-filled programs and unforgettable experiences.
The festival begins on 1 July, when the Circus in the City circus troupe will give visitors the pleasure of seeing their original Cabaret Show. Movie aficionados will also get to enjoy daily screenings of hit films as part of the Open Air Cinema program, while the organisers will once again throw The Princess Ball for the youngest visitors, allowing kids to enter the magical world of Alice in Wonderland.
This year’s program has been expanded to include a gastro festival, romance and a glimpse into the world of 3D. Every Tuesday in the garden of Villa Polesini, lovebirds can enjoy the romantic sunset listening to the lyrics of carefully curated jazz and pop songs performed by well-known Croatian musicians, such as Mia Dimšić, Zsa Zsa, Vesna Pisarović and many others, while the new Beats & Bites concept includes a selection of food and drinks – after all, the way to a (wo)man’s heart is through their stomach.
Starting this year, visitors will also be able to enjoy 3D Video Mapping – 3D Video animation projected onto the Town Hall as well as magical screenings that will be seen from the Riva every Friday evening from mid-July to late August.
As ever, this year will also include the family edutainment program Istra Inspirit, which drew in a large number of Croatian and foreign visitors in previous years. Every Sunday attendees will visit Sv. Nikola Island accompanied by enchanting music and numerous fairies and elves. The adventure ends in the illuminated park in front of the Valamar Isabella castle where visitors will be greeted by Istrian mythological figures.
In addition to the already established Tunalicious Street Food Festival, which will bring an array of tuna specialities to the Riva in Poreč, visitors can also enjoy the flavours and scents of global cuisines during the last week of the festival. The World Plates festival will introduce Mexican, Italian, American and Chinese specialities to the citizens of Poreč and their visitors, along with must-try Istrian delicacies and an accompanying musical program.
