Vesna Pisarović and her Quartet are coming to the garden of the Villa Polesini tomorrow, bringing world-class jazz to Poreč. And jazz is perfectly in tune with the concept of a romantic picnic, provided by the new Poreč Open Air Festival programme Beats & Bites. The most stunning sunset, a gorgeous garden, tasty treats and summer drinks create a winning combination for soothing summer nights. Although very popular for her pop music, Vesna withdrew from the music scene in 2005 and went to The Hague to take vocal lessons, then to London, where she earned a master’s degree in jazz, before settling in Berlin where she still lives today. Earlier this year, she released a new jazz album ‘Petit Standard’, collaborating with jazz greats Joe Fonda and John Betsch, and later this year she plans on recording the album ‘Pjesma poravna’, featuring carefully curated ‘sevdah’ songs. Vesna will perform some of the songs from her new jazz album with her band tomorrow at the garden of Villa Polesini, while visitors sit on cushions and carpets and enjoy themselves with all their senses.
The following day, jazz aficionados can keep up the tempo at the Jazz in Lap festival, whose creative and driving force is the Poreč Public Open University, while Denise Jannah will perform at the Lapidarium.
